Village headman stole maize

The neighboring village headman to Chinangwa was during the night found stealing cobs of maize from one of his people’s storage. Eyewitness who had with his girl lover chatting at a dark place near a certain house confirmed. “I was just chatting with my lover just behind the house. We wondered to see a person coming slowly and enter the storage” said the boy. When he entered the storage, (nkhokwe) that is Chichewa language the thief started packing maize cobs in his sack. Nkhokwe is storage of various agricultural yields like maize, sorghum and many more. It is built outside the house either with bamboo or bricks in a round shape with a roof mainly grass thatched. The boy knocked the nkhokwe’s owner and tipped him about the thief. The owner woke up with a panga knife and a long arrow. He demanded the thief to get outside the storage. “Please do not kill me I am your village headman, please forgive me” the village headman sympathetically apologized. The storage owner called some villagers to witness what their leader was doing. He then had taken to group village headman for hearing. The group village headman demanded the stealing leader to pay three goats and working at the maize owner for five months on daily basis.

The premium committee bought materials for the Kasinthula clinic extension building. As the project is underway through premium fund, the committee resolved to buy materials for quick completion.
