Farmers’ AGM

I didn’t go to work because it was farmers Annual General Meeting day held at Chikwawa Secondary School hall. Farmers were being taken to hall using a hired vehicle because Kasinthula’s vehicle was not in condition. The meeting started with a prayer by Julita Richard. Then board chairman for Kasinthula welcomed all invited members, chiefs and the general farmers. The chairman reported about board and trust meeting resolutions.

On Fairtrade premium, he encouraged farmers to propose proper social and economic development projects for 2007-08, in spite of the already underway electrification project of Chinangwa village.

On fields operational, the chairman encouraged farmers to work so hard on their plots to meet the highly quantity and quality of Kasinthula sugar. On Kasinthula’s huge loan, he advised farmers to understand this loan as a barrier to their reasonable advances. The District Commissioner also commented that the sugar production is only the influential factor of the Kasinthula farmers and the surrounding community in terms of the social and economic development. He continued saying that Chikwawa and Dwangwa districts are blessed because of sugarcane plantation and encouraged farmers to unite and work so hard to make life cost so easier.
