I did not move anywhere for it was raining for almost 4hours. I was just staying and charting with my wife and discussed some issues concerning family affairs.
Two brothers fought. It was so shameful to the village for those two brothers fought for their sister. These brothers were used to have sexual intercourse with their sister. Their father was a polygamous and to the junior wife there is a girl. the father divorced the junior wife and he took his daughter to care her together with others from senior wife who just passed away few months ago. Shamefully one of the brothers persuaded to have sexual intercourse with his sister and they were used to do that. One day the other brother too persuaded his sister and did the same. After a time they noticed each other that both of them were used to sleep immorally with the girl. they started shouting to each other and fought up to bleeding. Most of the people wondered because at that hour their father was just watching.
It was 9am when some 5 people came in Chinangwa village for they were looking for their cattle. One of them who were looking for the cattle got my young brother if he saw someone passing by the cattle. The man was told that he saw a certain man who had 12 cattle at 5am before sunset. After an hour I heard from my friend that one of the Chinangwa basing man was the one who stole those cattle. The angry owners were so furious and had to bit the man and he fainted. Others thought that he was dead. The police came to take the thief. When he was caught a lot of people were by then buying meat. The man at that time had killed one of the 12 cattle.
It was raining when I felt that something was wrong inside my abdomen. I left for toilet where I felt so pain. At around 7am when it stopped raining I left for hospital, that’s Chikwawa District Hospital where I was assisted. At 4pm I felt recovery but weak.
My friend Alfred cheered me at home and he brought me some mangoes, which I enjoyed because those mangoes brought me appetite.
After the carpenter got me home, he advised me to buy some of the remaining materials for my chairs. At around 7:30am I left for Blantyre to Mapanga Furniture to buy flexfoams. I was so tired when I got to Mapanga because it was lunch hour and I had to wait for noon working time. I waited from 12noon to 1:30pm until I asked for them. Unfortunately there were all completed by other people who came for them in the morning hour.
Heavily raining, when I just got Dyeratu from Blantyre it started raining heavily that hindered me to leave Dyeratu Trading Center for home, Chinangwa village. It had been raining since 23rd December 2007 and lots of people failed to Christmas festival.
It merry Christmas and more people were enjoying the day. Others were cerebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ. Others were cerebrating in different way, like taking beer and different parties. A man died of drinking kachaso, kachaso is a local brewed beer. It is prepared by soaking white maize husks and let them decay for some few days. Then sugar is added to increase fermentation process. Then it is boiled through a wooden piped straw to let steam out while cooled. The cooled steam becomes highly alcoholic beer called locally kachaso.
After knocking off from work I went to see my mother. After 20 minutes I heard some young boys who were looking for some fruits at a certain hill alongside my mother’s house said that a snake entered the house. I entered and saw it. It was so poisonous, and I took an arrow and pierced it twice on it’s neck and took it outside the house.
One of the phase two farmers was at Dyeratu Trading Center on the payment day after his wages. He was taking beer till odd hours. Early in the morning it was revealed that his money had lost. He was just crying when a certain man wanted to have his some of the money from him. Children and his wife were stranded for their fellow villagers were enjoying Christmas festival. It was very sad for especially his 5 children who are much more dependant to him. The man though is a cane farmer but is failing to improve his home as what others do. The man had been advised by other people to stop drinking beer excessively.
Farmers were supposed to have their wages on between 18th and 20th December 2007, but due to Kasinthula’s financial embarrassment all farmers and employees had their payments on Saturday 22nd December 2007. Most of them were confused for it was weekend, for them it was so difficult doing shopping for Christmas.
I went to work to pay excuse to my field manager that i wanted to attended funeral ceremony for the burial of my best friend. It was so sad loosing my friend. May God take care of him and rest in peace.
