Farmer passes away

When I was at work, I heard that Charles Black one of the Kasinthula cane farmers. That farmer had been sick for almost 2 years. He was sometimes recovering and sometimes fell down with that same problem.

My wife backs home after recovery. Before knocking off, I was called by my wife to take her from hospital back home. She was so happy when I got her at around 5:25pm on my bicycle. “I missed home and today I am proud to see home”. My wife said showing happiness for going back home.

Watching African Football Cup

For most of the times I had been admiring people set houses for renting. In Dyeratu as a trading centre, many people built houses for renting and they get money on monthly basis. One day my cousin who is basing in Dyeratu advised me to buy land so that I could set some houses if I shall have enough money. I went to meet the land’s owner to negotiate with her and see the place myself. The owner of the land is a widow and we negotiated and concluded that we had to have two witnesses for both parties before producing payment. I went home to take a certain man to clear the land.

Watching African Cup of Nations football matches, it was cloudy and some patches of showering that’s around 6evening where I agreed with my friend Alfred Butao to African Cup of Nations on TV, which played in Ghana. Most of the Chinangwa residents were to Dyeratu watching that match for our houses are not yet electrical connected. We went to there because Dyeratu residents have access to electricity. The match was between Ghana and Guinea. There were many people watching that match.

Football bursts

Early morning my friend got me home for he wanted to take me on his bicycle for the work. I told him that I was not supposed to go for the work for there was no computer that I could use. Instead, I just went to Chikwawa hospital to cheer my wife. My wife told me that I could also visit her on the following day, because she missed me.

Watching football match. In the afternoon, I went to Mitole ground to watch football match between Chinangwa FC and Dyeratu select FC. Football, which was used, was not in good condition. They just played the first half only and Dyeratu select FC was leading by 2 goals to nil. The match ended because the football burst. Most of the people who were watching the match worried because they prepared to spend that noon hour watching the match.

Drunken people called me. At around 5pm when I was going home to Chinangwa village some people who were taking beer and were so drunk called me. I went where they were enjoying their beer. One of them asked me to take that beer, but I told them that I was not prepared to take beer and the type of beer that was taken was local one called kachaso

Training by Twin

Doreen of Twin Trading conducted training to the premium committee members as one way of improving the Kasinthula Fairtrade premium committee’s working capacity. In order people to work properly there is a need of training, but Twin Trading, which one of the biggest Kasinthula buyers on Fairtrade deal introduced training to the members to understand deeply the roles of premium funds to Kasinthula farmers as well as employees and surrounding communities being beneficiaries.

The training started at 9am and ended at 4:35pm. Doreen Chanje encouraged premium committee members to improve Fairtrade awareness to the surrounding leaders and their people so that they understand the role and potential of Fairtrade premium funds to surrounding people.

Fairtrade Foundation visits

The chairpersons for the Premium committee phase one and phase two main body committees were at the office at around 7am, waiting for the Fairtrade Foundation visitors. They were 4 visitors. They were directed to see developmental projects by general manager Brian Namata. They visited Chinangwa village where electricity installation is about to be completed. Only connecting to the houses is to be completed soon by Electricity Supply Corporation Of Malawi. After visiting these projects, they met committee members as well as Premium members. Managing director, Hariet for Fairtrade Foundation congratulated the premium committee for implementing projects for accessing communities in different aspects. Some members also asked Fairtrade Foundation for the to continue assist local farmers in Fairtrade deal.

Couldn’t work

After breakfast I left for the work where I was intended to continue trial balance to Fairtrade premium funds for auditing as one way of complying with the Faitrade standards. Unfortunately I didn’t work for the computer I was using, was the owner was present for the work from leave. I told my manager about the problem. I complained because I scheduled to complete the trial balance towards January end. I went home for I didn’t work at around 3pm, instead of 4:30pm.

Chilembwe day

As it had been raining, that morning was still raining. It was better for I didn’t go to work because it was holiday to commemorate John Chilembwe one of the greatest heel in Malawi in 1915 when fought against the white domination at Chiladzulu district to the South East of Malawi. John Chilembwe was against the Thangata system (working without payment) and slave trade, which was practiced within the district he was basing. He was killed alongside with his friends.
Cheering my wife, I left for Chikwawa hospital to cheer my wife who was admitted to maternal care. She recovered but not released. I just wished her continuous recovery. “I have missed you home”. She said.

Man cuts tree in my garden

The guy who was doing some pieces of work at my garden got me before I left for the work. “I wondered there are two me who have cut the tree and has already fallen”. The man told me. I went to see myself and found out whose authority did they use. They told me that a certain man who used to sell timbers had authority from the village headman. I ordered them to stop working till we meet and discuss with the village headman. Then I went to meet the village headman who advised me to meet after knocking off from my work in the afternoon. The tree was providing shelter whilst at the garden. It one way of devastation of the environment. That man had been for almost 2 past years cutting trees for timbers. The man has made Chinangwa village to be one the environmental degradation. When I was leaving for the work I sent a message to the man to meet in the afternoon at the village headman’s residence.

Young girl dies, aged 4

One of the Kasinthula cane farmer lost a daughter on Saturday morning and was put to rest the following. The daughter died after one day illness. It was so sad to the Chinangwa people to loose a very youngster like she was. She was laid to rest at 11am. When people were just coming from the graveyard it started raining. It one day more after one of the Chinangwa basing people lost a one year old daughter. So sad the families and the entire villagers. On that ceremony my cousin who is a female preached from Genesis 3 verse 6.

My mother got me home. She got me at 7evening, because she just wanted to know if I went to cheer my wife at Chikwawa hospital. I told her that from maternal ward report seemed that the labour was about but there are some complications to deliver. I told my mother to keep on praying for her.

Bicycle out of order

When I woke up at 5:25am, my bicycle was not in good condition that I could use to go for work. I informed my boss about that problem and he admitted my excuse. My bicycle is now 3years old and it is not in condition for daily service as a means of transport. I wanted to buy the new one but for I am about to begin second year for diploma two on my studies, the money has to reserved for transportation and other costs like stationary and lunch whilst at school in Blantyre. With the fuel price instability transport fair has also risen almost double as it was last year.

Watching football match. At 2pm, my friend Alfred Butao took me to Dyeratu where we watched a match between Mitole and it’s opponent team from Thyolo district. It was so fantastic to watch because it was raining while the match was on. One of the hosting team, Mitole’s striker failed to score while the goal keeper was out of target. It was a brilliant cross from a central guy and one of the defender was beaten, but when he wanted to shoot as the chance to score was 100% the guy fallen due to slip of the soil. At that time the goal keeper had a chance to have the ball freely. The match ended 2 nil in favor of the coming team. Mitole supporters were so furious for they lost the match they believed to win.
