Cooking nsima

After breakfast, I left for the work. It was so sunny and hot at a maximum temperature of 35 Degrees Celsius. I was working at an exhaustion condition of the day. At lunchtime, I left for home to have some food. Unfortunately, I did not find my wife around. I was told that she left for her parents’ home to cheer her mother for she was feeling backache and headache as well. For I was about to turn up for the work, I just cooked myself. It was nice meal. I shared some to school going children.

Demonic plane crashed

There was a certain family that had been disturbed and uncomfortable nights. The owner of the house was suspicious of the witchcrafts who to come and made different difficulties on his family. The owner of the house consulted a herbalist from Mozambique who came to Malawi and assured him that anyone who was making his family to have terrible nights was going to be revealed and many people even young ones shall witness during day time. The herbalist did whatever he knows on his professional manner and told the owner of the house and his family rest and be alert of any strange noise on top of their house.

At around 3am, the family members heard the strange noise. The father got out and saw a strange thing stretched behind the wall of his house. The herbalist poured some water to the crashed plane and found six people inside it. The herbalist ordered the witchcrafts to lay down waiting for morning hours to take them before the village headman. It was so amazing, for they all escaped. The herbalist assured the house owner that though they escaped, but still they are going to die if they could not turn up for that case. When the sun shines many people gathered to see the crashed plane of the witchcrafts. A certain photographer advised by many people to take photographs for them to pay.

Attended funeral ceremony

A certain elderly man who just came at Chinangwa village to stay from Nsanje started suffering. He passed away at Chikwawa hospital on February 26, 2008. It was so sunny and hot. Men gathered holes and axes to prepare a resting place at the graveyard. However, the soil was hard to dig, but people worked so hard until the usual expected bottom level.

The food was brought to the graveyard for the men to take. After taking that food, the work was also completed. Then all men were ordered to leave back home to prepare for the burial ceremony. The burial ceremony started taking place at 3pm.

Examination results

After breakfast, I left for Blantyre to find out the December 2007 examinations’ results. I was arriving in Blantyre at around 9am. I proceeded to Blantyre Business College to meet the secretary on exams issues. I found some morning students learning. The school director asked me to start learning for diploma 2 though the results are not yet. The director told me that results should be ok in March.

When I was going back home within the Blantyre city I saw many people gathered alongside Blantyre flee market. I went to see myself what was going on. I found that people had interest to see a certain beautiful vehicle. It was so experience because I never see that vehicle.

Met my wife at the maize meal. Soon after arriving Dyeratu trading centre from Blantyre, I met my wife at a certain maize meal. She had my brother’s wife. “Would you add me some money, I want to buy today’s relish,” She asked me. I gave her Mk4.50, which was almost equivalent to three$. They were using a farm cart as their means of transport.

Farmers had their payments

Most of the farmers went to Nchalo trading centre almost 28 kilometers from Kasinthula to draw their payments. Most of them were just complaining due to very little money they were receiving. The money is enough comparing to those people who are not cane farmers, but the commodities prices are so high. For my own case, after drawing my salary I bought washing soap, sugar, cooking oil and some relish but the remaining was almost half of the total salary. The remaining was just enough for transport to Blantyre. It was so painful. The living cost is now so expensive. Most of people do not have breakfast and or poor lunch/ supper.

Alfred cycled to Nchalo. When I arrived at Nchalo, I found my friend Alfred already there. He told me that he wanted to save some money, which could used to cover transport.

As paraffin had been scarce for almost 4 months Alfred and I agreed to buy it because it was only available at Nchalo. Paraffin is our biggest source of light mainly in rural areas. Alfred bought five liters and too bought five liters. Due to the scarcity of paraffin in Malawi, most the people had been using diesel as one source of light on domestic use.

My wife went to cheer her mother

Early hours around 3am, I was feeling headache. My wife prepared me breakfast so that I could take some painkillers. After taking painkillers, I recovered at around 8am. I was just studying up to lunch hour.

At lunch hour my sister prepared me lunch for my wife was at her parents’ residence to cheer her mother. She was coming back home at around 5pm. She told me that her two brothers were there to cheer their mother. One of her brothers was from Monkey Barracks. She told me that her brother wanted me visit him at the barracks.

Women had dancing preparations. As Malawi is about to have presidential and parliamentary elections next year, women of a certain party were dancing preparation for their shadow Member of Parliament visit. I was just watching direct from home because it was almost 30metres from where they were doing their preparations. It was so nice to watch the way they were changing their dances. Others were dancing while babies were at their backs. It was so interesting

Employees payment

As usual, the labours have their wages on month end Saturday s. It was so sunny and hot day. Most of them were just coming from the field doing irrigation without going home to take lunch. At lunchtime, I left for Dyeratu trading centre to have chips as lunch. After taking those chips, I went back to the office to complete doing the assigned work. I did not go home for lunch because my bicycle was not in good condition.

My mother in law was sick. Through Alfred’s mobile phone, my father in law sent a message that my mother in law was sic. She was feeling backache. Alfred got me around seven evening when I was taking supper. He firstly told me that the father in law was complaining that he wanted me to buy a mobile phone for there are some discussions that are confidential and need direct communication.

A woman married though photograph

It sometime happened that some women or men marry without physical meeting with the prospective one. This type of marriage one just love the other one through photograph appearance. A man in our own village, Chinangwa asked a woman to marry without meeting her, but through photograph. That woman accepted the marriage. After the whole process accomplished by the elders of either sides, that woman was taken to meet and see the husband to start their new life. The woman arrived at 4pm. Soon after introduction about her husband whom she just married through photograph, the woman changed her mind. “I have not loved this man to be my husband and you paid some money at home come and take your money from my parents” The said while carrying her bag and say bye to the man’s family members.

Ate cucumber. My wife was given a well ripen cucumber by her friend. She added some condiments especially pepper and salt. It was so nice and I preferred that cucumber

The cow died

For I did not go to work due to how I was feeling in terms of malaria, I just stayed at home. I told my wife to buy fresh cow milk at a certain farmer’s residence so that she could prepare porridge. When I was waiting for the porridge, my father came to cheer me. He encouraged and wished me quick recovery.

After taking lunch, my brother called me at his residence. “See the cow was about to deliver and unfortunately it has just collapsed here and the owner has already been informed of it” My brother told me. The owner ordered people some men to skin it so that the meat would just be sold to the villagers.

At around 3pm, I was feeling some changes in terms of recovering. I was still taking dosage as the doctor directed me. Malaria infections are at high due to heavy rains, which has fallen this rainy season

Went to Chikwawa hospital

In the morning, my wife prepared breakfast for the school going children and me. After breakfast, I took a bath then left for Chikwawa hospital for medical assistance. I was arriving at the hospital at 7:46am, but there were already so many people. I had to wait for assistance up to 10:00. I decided just to leave for home because out patients were not assisted in good manner. I went to meet a certain doctor and complained on how I was feeling. The doctor assisted me by referring me to laboratory where I was found malaria positive after being tested. I was referred again to pharmacy to take drugs. After the whole process, I was so hungry because it was noon hour.

Before going home, I cycled to meet the accountant at the office to borrow me some money so that I could manage to buy relish for my home. I was told to wait until 2pm, but due hungry I was feeling I just left for home. My young brother went to the office to take that money on my behalf.
