Minibus fares rising

Minibuses are the major mode of transport in Malawi from city to even rural areas. Government introduced the new sitting capacity as one of the factors to reduce accidents. The minibus owners protest against that introduction and went to court for injunction. The court wrote off that injunction after giving the minibus owners some months to decide and comply with that condition. The new sitting capacity stated that there should be three people per one row not four as was before. Government enforced that sitting capacity to be followed by all minibus owners and instead those owners risen the fares by 60 percent, which is too much expensive especially for me to go in Blantyre twice every weekend for studies.

A man fought his daughter. When I was taking bath at around 6am, I heard somebody crying. After a couple of time, I saw people gathering at a cane farmer’s residence. Some eyewitnesses told me that, that cane farmer was fighting against his daughter over maize issues. The man is a polygamous and had nothing in terms of food at his junior wife. The man wanted to seize the only 20kgs of maize from his senior wife. The daughter refused him from taking that only maize at the household. The man did not accept his daughter to refuse him and started fighting. At that time, the senior wife was not around. Most of the people reprimanded that man for wanted to take food from one family leaving it starving and made the other family surviving.

Chiefs and Traditional leaders for Kasinthula Cane Growers in collaboration with the main body committees had a meeting on which they resolved various issues and were told the Board and Trust resolutions. Their meeting started at around 9am and they were winding up at 5pm.

Watching Africa Cup of Nations. When I got home from the work, my friend Alfred got me home. He reminded me that I should not forget watching football match on TV at Dyeratu Trading centre. The match started at 7 evening.
