It was sunny morning and some patches of cloud. Around 5:30 morning, my wife woke me up and informed me that there was nothing to take as breakfast. I advised her to prepare white maize flour porridge only for the two school going children even without sugar provided they take something for energy. Even my school-going children didn’t prefer that porridge of only salt as condiment. I was so angry having children going to school without taking good food.
At lunchtime, I did not go home for I understood that at home there was no relish. I had no lunch instead I just proceeded with my work. My friend Peter brought me some bananas after he knew my problem. I was still preparing some Fairtrade Premium work plan template, which was formulated by Fairtrade Labeling Organization. I am not a Fairtrade Premium committee member, but my roles are many for I understand most of the FLO standards. I do facilitate, guide and advise the premium committee, encourage and support, transfer knowledge and train farmers and workers’ representatives and others.
