My bicycle was not in good condition, I hired a bicycle to lift me for the work. I paid MK70, which is equivalent to 50 cents. At lunch hour, Robert and I left for Dyeratu to take chips as lunch. Trust administrator took us on the trust vehicle to Dyeratu. After taking lunch, he came to take us back to the work.
Wholesome sweetener’s visit (Fairtrade). When we got to the office, we received the visitor from Wholesome Sweeteners one of the biggest customers on Kasinthula sugar on Fairtrade deal. Two Illovo workers accompanied him. The other was marketing manager for Illovo. The premium committee in collaboration with general manager Brian and I welcomed the visitor. After some discussions, we all together with the visitor went to see some of developmental projects, which were already implemented through premium funds. Firstly, he took photos to Kasinthula clinic extension through premium and then visited Chinangwa electrification project. Chinangwa electrification project is the project that most of the people wonder why electricity was installed at a typical village. Premium funds is playing important role in implementation of the sustainable developments to make the living standard of the growers and the community access necessities. The visitor encouraged members present that the premium should bring a great change within the Kasinthula surrounding communities and promised to buy more sugar from Kasinthula in order to us with more premium.
Wholesome Sweetener shirts. The wholesome sweetener’s visitor brought us some gifts, which we all shared. There were shirts, capes, handbags and ballpoint pens but all of these labeled Wholesome Sweeteners. We all enjoyed those gifts and paid congratulation to Wholesome Sweeteners Company.

Since I was not reelected in Fairtrade Premium Committee, I was appointed to work as a Fairtarde Premium Advisor. My roles are to encourage, support in development implementation and preparing book keeping for premium. I also raise Fairtrade Awareness to the general farmers as well as workers. When I got to the work, I was just reconciling the expenditure and balancing the premium fund.
Vegetables as relish. At lunch hour, I went home to have lunch. I took vegetables with nsima as relish. I enjoyed that relish for it was groundnuts mixed.

When I got home from the trading center, I met my friend who came from Fombe village just to visit me. He was leaving back for home late in the afternoon. We went to the pitch to watch football match. The match ended 25 minutes after kick off because the football burst. There was no any alternative each and everybody was just going home.

Handing over of boreholes. Through premium fund, the Kasinthula Fairtrade Premium committee managed to drill three new boreholes on top of the 2 current ones. One bore was allocated at Kasinthula cane cutters’ village as one way of accessing the workers with safe water. The other two boreholes were allocated one at Kapasule 2 village and another one at Alufandika village where there is no any cane farmer but as one way of accessing the surrounding community with sustainable development through Kasinthula Fairtrade Premium funds. It was a proper handing over with the drilling contractor and last payment was made.

After taking breakfast, I went to the graveyard where people were digging a place for Alfred’s cousin to rest. I did not go work for I paid an excuse to attend the funeral ceremony. At the graveyard, the failing of African doctor to reveal thieves who stole 3 Dzowa’s bicycles was a hot news. The ceremony started at around 3pm. At the graveyard, the pastor preached from the book of Job 6 verses 25 and 26.
Committee members went to Ngabu to meet the Shire Valley programme manager. The committee wanted to ask the manager for meeting the state president on various issues concerning the cane grown at Kasinthula.

I took breakfast and I wanted to go to my garden because was holiday. There was a rumor that a certain African doctor promised to come in Chinangwa village to reveal who stole three bicycles belonging to Dzowa. Many people were eager to witness themselves thieves to be revealed. The doctor said that almost 40 people, men and women equally should take drugs for them to have access to see through a local TV, thieves who stole those bicycles. I was one of the people who took drugs. “All those who have taken my drugs should wait and see themselves the way and who stole here,” the doctor said. It was 10am, all drug takers entered Dzowa’s house to see through the cloth. An African doctor started singing and advised us who took his drugs with an aim of having special sight to see the suspected thieves. It was almost dangerous drugs because some people who took were vomiting and felt as if were intoxicated. I tried to look into the cloth (TV), but I saw nothing. All of us saw nothing. I got off to have fresh air. “What have you noticed?” my friend who was outside the house asked me. “This doctor must be a thief too, because he promised that those who have taken drugs are going to have access to see thieves through the TV. I can see nothing I tell. And I am going home for lunch” I told Henry Nzengeza.
Late in the afternoon, I heard that the doctor escaped for he failed to reveal who stole Dzowa’s bicycles. He and his accomplices left back for home without paying an excuse to Dzowa the client.
Passed after 1-hour illness. Alfred cousin who just married late last year passed away after a very short illness. My friend Alfred got me home while electrician was finishing installation outside my house. “My cousin has just started sick and things are so critical” Alfred told me. I tried to communicate HR for Kasinthula whom I asked to assist Alfred with the means of transport (vehicle) to take the patient to hospital. HR advised me to communicate the driver on duty and he came to lift the patient to Chikwawa hospital. “The patient has passed right at the hospital before doctor’s attention,” Alfred told me through communication. It was so sad because the deceased was doing his pieces of work the whole morning without showering any physical problem.
Harvesting rice. My wife with my sisters went to harvest rice, which was grown depending on the drained water from cane fields. Many people are growing rice locally. My father bought two plots in which 24 bags of 50kg had been harvested. When I knocked off from the work, my wife was not yet at home. “It was a hard work, I am so tired” my wife told me.

I knew nothing; I woke up and left for the work. I just heard that Dzowa’s three bicycles were stolen inside his own house. I was told that during the night some thieves broke Dzowa’s house while the whole family was asleep. “Have you heard that three bicycles have been stolen this last night?” Robert asked me. “I don’t know” I responded. It was so sad because he had just bought those 3 bicycles to assist his family in various ways, but someone just come and take as if he or she sweated for.
Cotton sales. Cotton is one of the major commercial trading especially in Shire valley. Prices for this crop had been worrisome for so many years. Most of the farmers stopped growing cotton. Early this year government announced the substantial prices for cotton purchase by the local buyers. My friend Alfred managed to sell over 2000 kg at Mk65 per kg. He was so happy because he was not expecting to have that yield.

Late in the afternoon, I hired the bicycle to lift me to Dyeratu trading to buy soap. I was going home at around 6pm. On the way, I met Love Mlaitcha one of the Chinangwa basing men who was so drunk and failing to walk. I tried to assist him walking to Chinangwa village but he failed to proceed.
