Second fertilizer application

Following the winter maize cropping, it was the week and or day for second fertilizer application. Early morning I asked two friends to assist me that work. I paid an excuse to the office that I was not going to attend for I was at my garden. My boss admitted an excuse. My wife prepared porridge to be taken while working. We started applying at 6:25am and finished at 11 sharp. Many people are admiring my crop because I always follow the agricultural principles.

A thief stole a 200-liter container. I had a container that had been used in several projects like drawing water. It had water outside the house. At around 3am, got out to pass urine it was when I realized that there was no that container. It when I noticed that someone had stolen it. My wife complained because the container was assisting her inform of water storage.

Ceremony completed

The building ceremony started at around 7am while it was still showering and cold. Our uncle showed my brothers and I some tombs for relatives who too passed away some years ago. From the graveyard, we all left for home to have lunch. We turned back home (Chinangwa village) at around 4pm.

Building pillar ceremony

My grandfather (a father to my mother) who passed 20 years ago was commemorated by building his tomb’s pillar. My mother, two sisters and my wife left the past day for Supuni village where the ceremony was taking place. My two brothers, father and I left for Supuni to attend that ceremony. Many relatives from various places gathered as well other people. The ceremony preparations started late in the afternoon. We all slept at the ceremony point. Women were singing cultural and traditional dances the whole night. At around 9pm, it started showering that made sleeping places difficulties due a large group of people that the available houses could not accommodate

Football players visited me

Late in the afternoon while taking supper with my wife seven-football players got me home. A certain contribution happened in order to buy football. “We understand that every weekend you go to Blantyre for your studies. We have decided to ask you to buy us football following our contribution” the treasurer for Chinangwa team said. “Is your money worth to buy long lasting one? I asked them. They said that prices were not sourced. I told them to keep the money until I source prices.

Students stole sugar canes

While at the work cane guards brought three boys who stole canes. Cane guards referred them to HR office. Sympathetically they said that they were students for a certain private secondary school and asked officer to forgive them. One was in form four, one in form two and the other one in form one. HR forgiven them and warned that if found again police would handle the matter. The form one student was just crying. “I have just been taken; I do not know that here are prohibited canes for company. These friends persuaded me to steal forgive me” he complained while crying.

Candico visitors

At around 9am when it was windy Yannick and Isabel who work for Candico visited Kasinthula Cane Growers. Kasinthula Fairtrade Premium Committee warmly welcomed them. Yannick said that their main aim to visit Kasinthula was to interview almost three farmers and make films while they are involved in their cane field activities. We used general manager’s vehicle to travel to the field where three farmers interviewed. I was one of the interviewed farmers while doing hand weeding using a hoe. Christopher Makhaza and Laston Gogwe were other interviewed farmers. After interviews, they wanted to visit other Fairtrade Premium projects at Chinangwa village. They visited borehole and electrification projects and took some photos. Yannick and Isabel entered my house. My wife knew nothing, iot was around 12noon when we arrived at my home after visiting implemented projects through premium funds. All the committee members together with Yannick and Isabel entered. Yannick took some photos inside my house and at the bedroom while my youngest boy (Junior) was just staring. Yannick and Isabel left at 2:25 pm for Nchalo about 18km from Kasinthula where our canes milled.

Cane farmers’ meeting

Farmers including I myself attended the meeting. The committee wanted to encourage farmers to work extra so had on their cane plots respectively. Members were reminded that since harvesting started activities allocated to farmers are already in place that plot owners whose fields have already harvested should work extra hard. There was also a brief progress report on how Kasinthula clinic extension project is running through Fairtrade premium funds.

Alfred did not present for the meeting. Alfred’s wife was sick and he had her at a mission private hospital at Nchalo. He was coming back home at around 3pm. Later in the evening, Alfred and his wife managed to move to visit wife and I at home. We had supper together. “I wanted to see you later after taking supper because I understand you are a patient” my wife told Alfred’s wife.

Village meeting

In the morning there was breezing and later around 9am it started showering. It was then cold that most of the people wore windbreakers. I left for the work together with my friend Robert. at lunch hour I did not go home because I could not catch up with the turning time.

Village headman announced the farmers meeting of the following day. It was early morning when I heard a loud voice saying ‘Timvere! Timvere! Timvere!’ that is simply means ‘Listen! Listen! Listen! Members were informed about the meeting. Every Chinangwa resident heard the message. If a village headman wants to inform villagers about the meeting, he or she has to move along the houses while telling people with loud voice. By this way, every family has to listen to the message.

Friend escaped from South Africa

In the morning, I woke up to clean the house compound. My wife was preparing breakfast. “Are you going to attend church service today? She asked me. “I want to go to Dyeratu to buy relish for today’s meal” I replied. After taking breakfast, she left for church while I was preparing to leave for Dyeratu.

Watching football match. Was Dyeratu watching football match between Mitole and the other team from Blantyre and ended Mitole 1 and the other team 0. After watching the match, I met a friend who was in South Africa but came for life due to xenophobia violence. “It was what I never ever seen in my life, because a fellow country man was burnt on the presence of some friends” he told me. “How did you rescue yourself? I asked him. He told me that he was hiding at a certain bush without taking food and or water for three days. He also continued that the buses organized by the government did assist him to arrive home alive.

Attended classes

I left around 6am, and arriving early around 7am. We started classes at 9. When I left home, I forgot a windbreaker because it was sunny and hot. I forgot that Chikwawa is always hot and sunny. After about 2 hours in class he weather changed. Clouds became thicker and started showering. It was very cold that I realized the forgotten windbreaker. Blantyre is one of the highlands places and always cold and for me was uncomfortable. Fortunately, when we knocked off at around 4pm, there were patches of sunlight.

Ex-husband stole bicycle. A man who had been failing to support his wife and two children married another woman at a certain village. The first wife’s parents confirmed the separation of the marriage. The woman fell in love with a certain cane farmer who bought his brand new bicycle. The day he bought the bicycle he did not go home to show his wife, instead he went to secret lover’s house. He entered the house of the woman who separated with her husband. The former husband to the woman was just hiding along the ex-wife’s house bushes. The man with a brand new bicycle entered. When ex-husband to the woman confirmed that the other man entered, he moved slowly and stole the bicycle. After all the man got out of the woman’s house and found that the brand new bicycle was stolen. He was much stranded. The former husband to the woman sold that bicycle at a nearby village. The bicycle was later after three weeks recognized.
