I woke up early morning at around 4am preparing to leave for home. I did not take breakfast because my wife said that there was no sugar that she might prepare breakfast. At 8am, I paid an excuse to temporarily leave for home to have breakfast. When I took my bicycle, I saw Kasinthula vehicle coming towards where I stood. The driver told me that Trust administrator wanted me at the office. I boarded that vehicle. At the office, the administrator told me about the meeting to be conducted by the management.
KCGL management called Fairtrade meeting
Following the Fairtrade standards and requirements, the Kasinthula Cane Growers management called for meeting that started at 2pm. General Manager, Bryan Namata advised members attended to be Fairtrade standards compliant. He encouraged the premium committee that it has the vital role to play on farmers and employees behalf in Fairtrade issues. He urged some members who seem not to abide by the Fairtrade standards to resign because withdraw of Fairtrade certificate would leave innocent people having no access to sustainable development projects in surrounding communities. Many members commended what Bryan said. The meeting ended at 5:26pm with a prayer said by Mr. Joseph Kamangira.
