Failed to catch bus

I was lat when I prepared to leave for Blantyre at school. Just soon after taking breakfast, I called a cyclist who drove me to Dyeratu Trading. When I arrived Dyeratu Trading Center some people told me that it was  already gone. I boarded at 7 and arrived school campus at 8am, and found my friends already started learning.

Take off clothes and cross the river

When going to Dyeratu it about 5 km from home. Almost the central area of this distance there is a river that was full of rain water that started on Friday late around 10 pm. With my books on my back I lingered myself for feared to cross the river that flows heavily. A man who was going to sell cucumbers stood his bicycle behind a certain tree and attempt to cross alone. While standing the other part of the river, he advised me that we could manage to cross if we take off clothes and shoes. I did and managed to cross but almost to be drowned.lameck-crossed-river

Beautiful weather

In the morning when I woke up it was raining heavily. I admired that weather because it was cool and cloud cover renders the earth with joy. I put on my raincoat and gumboots before leaving for the work. It was still raining when I was going to the work. Most of my fellow workers did not go for the work due to that rain.

Rehearsal room

Kasinthula was advised by European Union to prepare the grant signing ceremony between European Union and Kasinthula Cane Growers which was scheduled to take place at Kasinthula. Some twenty seven farmers based in Chinangwa village used one of my house’s room to prepare and organize songs for that meeting.fd-operations-006

Blessed day in starvation

For the whole planting season Lower Shire experiences drought. It seemed to be so strange when hearing that some parts in Malawi are receiving rain. Many people are now starving of hunger instead of harvesting. At 2 am, it started raining heavily and water was everywhere. I boarded truck when going to work because I could not manage to cycle. almost-dry-maize-002

Fresh fish at affordable

Peter tipped me when I was working that there was cheap fresh fish sold at Kasinthula fisheries. Peter being a driver he ferried me to the pond to buy those affordable fish. Peter bought 1 kg as well I did.

Maize harvest

My wife and my bothers including my mum went to harvest maize at my garden. I do praise Lord for the harvest because many people have failed even 5 kg of unshelled maize.

A cowboy caught for cattle damage

When I was going home for lunch, I saw a farmer whose maize was damaged by cattle. He caught one of the cowboy and was taken to be punished. I rescued him because I apologized on the cowboy’s behalf. That cowboy congratulated me for his rescue.cowboy-caught

Black out

We did not work because there was black out that occurred at 8 when we had only an hour working. ESCOM advised all concerned clients that the area would have power at 3 pm.

Enjoyed Chibuku beer

When I was in Dyeratu, my friend who was taking beer at AnaAlimthengo bar called to buy me Fanta. He was with his three friends enjoying that Chibuku beer. Many people locally prefer this beer.shire-valley

Fairtrade and EU update

rice-field1All 282 Kasinthula farmers gathered at Kasinthula Cane Growers offices where the meeting took place. The meeting was conducted by the main body committee to update Fairtrade Premium income and expenditure. Farmers were updated about the 2008 premium income and projects implemented as well balances. The second issue was about the EU development programme of funding Kasinthula phase three extension. The fund donating ceremony shall take place here on 24th March, the phase two chairman said.

Borrowed relish

“Do you have money to buy relish? Because today we can not have lunch or supper” asked my wife. I had nothing to do because I was totally financially embarrassed. At around 8 am, I saw butcher at Chinangwa min market who was selling goat meat. I negotiated with him to lend me 1 kg of meat for home to have better lunch. The man lent me at Mk300.00.white-birds-kakowas

Absent from school

Each and every Saturday and Sundays I do attend classes in Blantyre but this Sunday

I failed because I had no money for traveling expense. I was not happy with this failure to go for studies. When I was taking breakfast at home while lingering for absent from school, my school mate called me in order to find out if I was on the way to school. He seemed to be worried when noted about my failure.

Driver assistant died on accident

I left for Blantyre to attend classes. I boarded minibus at 6 am. On the way (Shire Highlands) there was a long vehicle that turned over and coal which was on transition was all spread all everywhere at that spot. It was noted that that vehicle’s brakes lost control and driver decided to absolutely hit the rock along the Chikwawa Blantyre road and an assistant died. An amputated leg was seen through a certain hole inside the broken head of the truck.

ATM not working

When I arrived Blantyre, I wanted to draw some money for traveling but failed because ATM was not servicing. I was stranded because I had no money to travel from Blantyre to Soche at school. I asked my college mate through phone to take me on his motor bike to school. Unfortunately, he told me that he was not yet at school for he was on the way. I started footing to school a 7 km distance. Fortunate enough I met the businessman I know who assisted me with Mk150.00.overturned-truck

Committee members meeting

In the morning when I was just arriving at office some Kasinthula Committee members were gathering at the office. The meeting started at 9 am. Fairtrade Premium use was the main issue to discuss.

Telephone interview

I had a telephone interview for about 120 minutes. That interview follows the application I did to FLO International for Liaison Officer for Malawi. It was grateful and impressive enough because I was short listed. This was the first session and the second session shall take place just here in Malawi. It was scheduled to begin at 9h 30 German Time which was 10h 30.

Chips frying pan broken

Malawi government through the Ministry of Health is combating ant cholera programme on which sanitation is encouraged by controlling the selling of locally made goods. Chips, thobwa, sugarcanes, doughnuts and many food products are not allowed to be sold in markets. Chikwawa District Doctors brought with them police men to break the chips pans for they were not following the set controlling measures. Cholera outbreak has hit Lower Shire and few people have passed away. The government is playing the big role to prevent and control. women-draw-water
