I didn’t know that there was a match between Mitole FC and Chikwawa FC. I was in Malasha bus from Blantyre (school) when I was passing by Mitole pitch where there were many spectators. It was around 3:50 pm. I boarded off at Dyeratu deport to watch that match. If was really crucial. Upon my arrival I saw short tough wing man for Chikwawa Medicals who shot and scored without goal keeper attempt. It was very brilliant goal.
My brother went to Chapananga looking for cattle being a butcher. In the morning, my in law, brother’s wife told me that one cow was found dead. I advised her that for I was about to leave for school in Blantyre, she should ask other people to assist burry it away from houses.
It was unfortunate that those who attempted to burry it skinned the whole dead animal and share. They also sold some meat to other people.
I finished secondary level in 1999. I started working in the very same year in October under Kasinthula Cane Growers. I proposed the girl marry in May 2000. Everything was possible that I married her. It was very sad that I lived together with her at my parents’ home only a year. Regina was lovely wife but unfortunately she passed. She was living with her only grandmother who was very old at that time. Before her death, her mother, father and sisters were all dead.
Her grandmother brought up her and managed to send her to school. She was proud that she married me as well as her old grandmother. After funeral ceremony in 2001, May 12, I advised late Regina’s old grandmother not to loose hope for she lost her only lovely granddaughter, Regina because I shall be used to come and visit them forever. I manage to assist her with very little I earn.
This old woman came home on this day complaining that she spent almost a week depending on porridge only. She also said that she is even failing to find Mk10.00 to mill her only 2kgs of maize. It was very sympathetic when she expressed that she footed almost 20 km from Eastern Bank to Chinangwa village (my home village). Her legs swelled after several hours due to footing. I felt sorry for that.
Most women in Malawi suffer domestic violence. However, some men are also suffering domestic violence by their wives. Some women when demanding something to be bought for them they make husbands discomfort. I learnt that it had been a long time when this woman was forcing her husband to her a certain design of chitenje. Following how that man earns his daily necessities, he felt that he could not manage to buy her. Late in the afternoon, the woman started making noises about the same chitenje.
The man went to bed early as one way of preventing quarrels against his wife. The wife entered while the husband was asleep. She amputated the man’s private parts (scrotal parts). The man lost blood and dead on the spot.
A certain family was footing with their goods headed. There were two parents and their three children. The elder child was almost 8 years old. On the way my brother and his fellow business men were on the way to look for cattle to buy. Along Chikwawa-Chapananga road they met the family resting under a certain tree. One of the business men asked why the family was footing that long distance with goods on their heads and a woman with a baby at her back. The family remained quit. “It’s poverty” the very young boy responded. Nobody continued with any other questions. They were all satisfied with what that young boy responded. They really understood that it was poverty that made them footing a long distance, over 30 km.
The church members scheduled to visit and cheer patients at Chikwawa hospital. My wife called when I in class that she was at Chikwawa hospital with other church members to visit and cheer patients in various wards. “It was a good suggestion that you scheduled to cheer patients in their wards. I also wish to visit and cheer prisoners mainly at Chikwawa but finances are very embarrassed. If having enough money it is a great deal and grace to God when assisting those who can not afford to find their basic necessities themselves because of their beyond control challenges” I told my wife Bertha.
The man, who is one of the Kasinthula Cane farmers, hired some men to assist him with pieces of work in his garden. In the afternoon, the hired men came for their money. The man failed to pay them. He then negotiated with them to take maize replacing the money. His wife didn’t admit that suggestion. Instead he pretended to visit the toilet, and then he fled his home. The hired men waited for him until late in the afternoon.
My son McAlfred passed standard 5 exams with good marks. His teacher congratulated him for his good pass. I congratulated him by buying him mattress. I cautioned him to work so extra hard in standard 6 for he is about to face Primary School Leaving Certificate Examinations. I am proud because he is working hard. My mother bought him a pair of trousers.
We started learning at 9 am. The school Director came in to advise us that we should work extra hard because the new built school block are fit for college and well recognized by Malawi government. The director said that they decided to build the school blocks so that the college should offer very recommended and standard courses in all levels. It really offers very professionalism studies than other pvt colleges. We all congratulated the director for beautiful school blocks with well qualified lectures.
