Since November 10, 2009 when we experienced black out in Chinangwa village, Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi showed no any interest to restore the power to Chinangwa village. Robert and I went to meet the Nchalo branch manager to fully understand what was happening for his organization not restoring electric power. The manager just told us that he was going to organize his team to investigate the causative problem of the black out.
Chinangwa people are failing to enjoy electric power since installation because they plant already weary transformers having advantage that Chinangwa based people are not most of them literate. The premium funded electrification project paid lots of millions to supply the typical Chinangwa village village, but ESCOM tricks residents by using very old transformers that failed to supply power even for only 30 days. Since 2007, almost 5 transformers have already planted but not working.

I just advised my wife that we can still enjoy sweet potato only without taking tea for I had no money to buy sugar. After taking that sweet potato, I left for the work. I did work up to lunch hour whilst taking water only.

Many village headmen had been loosing their trucks for a very long time. A certain village headman was involved in the stealing of three cattle. Being the leader, he ordered some boys to look for butchers to buy the rescued cattle from thieves during the last five nights. When people rescued stolen properties they refer them to the village headman while looking for owners to take their found properties.
Unfortunately owners were tipped that their lost cattle were kept at a certain village by the village headman. When they approached the headman, he expressed that he was tired of feeding them and that was why he just decided to sell them. The issue was referred to Chikwawa police where it was again referred to Chikwawa magistrate court. The village headman was sentenced two years imprisonment with hard labour for being corruptive leader.

Many people basically those who are suspected of being witches are teaching other peoples’ children how to fly and eat human fresh magically. At Nedi village almost 4.5 km away from Chinangwa it was learnt in the morning that witchcraft was stuck inside a certain house. More people flocked to witness themselves. “I was sent to kill this girl inside this house. It was very wonderful because I only managed to enter but I didn’t see where she slept that I could hit her with these weapons I had in my hand. It was very dark. I switched on my light but no any change inside here. Later, I felt dozing myself. I then tried to just get off but still failed. It was when I found myself slept inside here” the very young boy expressed that mysterious story.
Other people demanded him to mention the one who sent him to do that mysterious killing of the girl who was at that time slept but innocent. He revealed that a certain well known mother was the one who sent him. He continued saying that they were three of them. He too mentioned his friend’s names. The village headman ordered that the responsible woman should appear before him.

My mother’s sister’s son, Nkhonde might born unfortunate. He married the first wife in Mozambique. The wife spent only two months and then she fled at 4 am for her home. He went with other elders to negotiate but the wife refused to go back to her husband’s home without valid reasons.
On this day it was like unfortunate when another wife he married in Malawi spent two weeks only and left when she pretended to draw water while the husband was at the garden. The wife packed her clothes and paid an excuse to the neighbouring family that she was going to wash. The husband followed her at the stream where he thought she might be there washing. He asked other village women who were at the stream washing. He was told that they saw her heading a certain way that made the boy realizing that she was heading back to her home, Fombe village.
He followed her on his bicycle and found her footing just about arriving her home. When asked, the wife responded nothing. She just told her mother that she did not like the place where the husband lives.

It was in the second subject, Legal Framework. The school secretary got into our class and called those who finished paying fees. After calling she said that the management has ordered that those who didn’t get their names should pack and go home until they brought fees. I was one of the four. I went to meet the school director to complain about my failure. “Sir, can you understand my problem that this is week end nowhere I can go and get money. Can please give me a grace period of 5-6 days. This coming weekend I shall bring with me fees. Sir, you already know that I am from Chikwawa two days on weekend basis. It really costing in terms of transportation than paying tuition and exams fees” I pleaded to the director. He understood my request and advised my go back to the classroom.

It was 2 am, when I heard a certain family members calling for help. Other neighours flocked to assist the family. Using arrows and lights it was seen that there were two hyenas which caught the goat. It was rescued but the front leg was already broken and left eye was too broken. Goat’s owner demanded that it should just be slaughtered for it was already damaged by those two hyenas. Others suspect that those hyenas were from Lengwe National Park which is almost 25 km from Chinangwa village.

Most people leaving in Shire Valley depend on farming. They start growing their different crops during the rainy season. The rainy season starts in November up to March. It seems to the better year whereby most farmers thought The Shire Valley is going to receive good rain. It was showering in the morning.
There were thick clouds late in the afternoon. It rained not really enough for planting. The boy who dropped school at primary level and married when he was 16 has married the second wife. It is very sympathetic because he failed to follow child spacing measures because he has two children in 2 years period. Despite other factors the family is always financially embarrassed that promotes the already born children experience malnutrition. It is still sad for the second wife is also expectant.
