I received a call from my friend Adam that I was one of the proposed invited people to attend the birthday party of one of the Matechanga Superete workers.
The party started at 5pm when more office workers were just knocking off. I arrived at 6:25pm on hired bicycle which I paid Mk50.00. It was good because everybody had a wide choice of drinks and food. The fried pork was my preference. It was indeed the special day.
Dick is one of the Chinangwa boys. He married at Dedza but the couple separated. He was exiled in 1993 and nobody knew where he was. He was back in 2006 with his wife.
He also left his wife and 2 young children. He did not excuse anyone else when he left. Unfortunately his wife was not faithful. More men were following her now that her husband was not in the village. She was caught red handed with a secret lover enclosed in Dick’s house. Dick’s brother ordered the woman to leave the home. She was escorted to her parents’ home by Dick’s brother and cousin.
When I got home from the office, I just heard that Dick is now back but looked improved than before.
The Traditional Authority Katunga left in the morning using the Kasinthula Fairtrade vehicle to cheer the man who was under intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
An accident happened just 20 metres away from the Chief’s house and he was really concerned. He went with some few relatives to the man and a guardian. The responsible driver was not accused but congratulated for what he did because he tried all the best as the eye witnesses reported.
Tsoka sasimba (you can’t call misfortune). A man who is not married but old enough to marry was drunk. He looks abnormal but is physically fit and he manages doing pieces of work in Salumeji village.
He was drunk and walking to his home along the tarmac road. Behind him was a vehicle. He saw it and deliberately left his right side and crossed the lane following the vehicle. The driver tried to prevent him by taking the other side but still he followed it. The eye witnesses said that he was saying that he was going to break or fight against the driver. Unfortunately he was hit when the driver applied brakes . Both legs were severed at the spot. He was referred to Chikwawa hospital and later referred to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
My wife was happy to take together the day’s lunch because most of the times specifically in the working days, I don’t go home for lunch just because of the bad transport.
It was fresh mudfish with vegetables which comprised the nice meal. Nsima with fresh fish and vegetables is probably my best meal.
Even though it was hot that I took off my shirt but the meal was quite nice. “It is better to have you today taking together this lunch” my wife commented. I also thanked her for the well prepared food for the family.
Malicious people poisoned cattle when owner was asleep. It was Chikhambi where more cattle theft cases happen. Some butchers from this village stole twenty cattle belonging to Mr Kavalo. In 1993, one thief was shot dead by the cattle owner when he entered the premises and attempted to drive 4 cattle into the bush.
In the morning, the cattle owner found his 3 cattle dead. Every person wondered for all cattle looked healthy that could just die. The area’s veterinary assistant was called to examine. He found that someone poisoned them. More people suspected that one was not a thief but a malicious and jealousy person.
Some people fail to follow their way to home when they drink. The man was totally intoxicated at Dyeratu Trading. He left for Chinangwa but lost when he followed the Tsapa road. At Mbenderani village, he found people offloading dead body from an ambulance. Anonymously he started assisting them.
The villagers wondered for he was a stranger in the village also looked drunk. He was asked where he was from. “Why asking me?” he asked while laughing with perception that his fellow villagers of Chinangwa were not recognise him. He was later told that it was not Chinangwa village. He then realised that he was lost.
A 68 years old man was arrested for defiling a 10 years old girl. In the morning all family members went to do farming activities. They left the man and his granddaughter taking breakfast.
At around 9am, the man persuaded the young girl to have sex by insisting that he was going to buy her a biscuit. The young girl refused that malpractice but the man told the girl that he would kill her if she would reveal what happened. He left the girl bleeding and crying. When he noticed that he hurt the girl, the man fled. The police caught him after one week hiding in a certain village. He was sentenced 8 years imprisonment.
Chemical weeding is very effective when applied by well trained people. I have been supervising chemical application in cane fields from 2003 to 2006.
Chemicals need proper handling to prevent skin contact or inhaling of the mist. Kasinthula Cane Growers managed to train the herbicide gung on agrochemical handling. The herbicide gung is now fully protected to comply with the chemical use standards.
I bought two pairs of trousers from PEP shop in Blantyre. Both trousers were longer than my usual size. My wife took them to a certain tailor to adjust.
My wife had been going there to ask the tailor about the trousers but he was just an excuse that he did not yet adjusted them. It was something very wonderful when he told me that both trousers were missing. I reported the issue to the market chairman. The tailor promised to buy or either refund cash worthy trousers.
